Chalazion
My left eye has been unbelievably swollen for two weeks! I visited the GP twice, but they apparently told me it was nothing to worry about and gave me tonnes of antibiotics, ointments and pills to reduce the swelling. I’ve been bumming at home (even on NYE can you believe it?) and the swelling just kept on increasing! I told myself that no matter what, I had to get this thing off cause I didn’t want it affecting my life anymore. So, I made an appointment with an ophthalmologist at ISEC Malaysia, Mid Valley this afternoon. The doctor instantly knew I wanted it off and the only way to have gotten rid of was to go through a minor surgery.
What I had was a cyst formed by an inflammation of a blocked meibomian gland. The procedure started with the nurse cleaning my eye with some numbing drops. The doctor then came in and injected a dose of anesthesia directly into my eye. Normally, cysts are removed through turning the eyelid over and making an incision on the inner eyelid, so no scar is visible. In my case however, the cyst was way too big for him to flip my eyelid over and make an incision from the inside so he made one on the outside instead. He gave me the title as the record holder for the biggest chalazion of 2010-2011. Lols! At least that’s something good about it… Or not! Let’s pray and hope the scar isn’t going to be too bad!
Gotta go back in 2 days time. FML!
